RESOURCES FOR ARTISTS IN GEORGIA

I frequently get asked is "how did you get that opportunity?" and half the time, the answer is that I connected to the client through word of mouth and referrals based on previous work. The other half of the time is because I submit to as many artist calls as possible. This process includes a lot of time researching, writing, and applying. Of course, these efforts don’t guarantee you'll get chosen but does guarantee that from every submission your CV and proposal writing skills will improve. I suggest casting a wide net in the beginning. Below is a go-to list for artist opportunities locally and out of state:

Other tips: GET CONNECTED! Follow social media pages and accounts for fellow artists, local galleries, city and county offices, non-profit arts organizations, and arts publications. Meet, interact, and network with your local arts community at all levels. Arts administrators, curators, gallerists, design professionals, realtors, and all the people associated with a thriving local art community - these are going to be the people who present opportunities to you that you won't find online. Immersion and a collaborative spirit are the best ways to become a part of a community. Surround yourself with people doing what you want to do and don’t worry about where you are in your art journey- WE ARE ALL ON OUR OWN PATH. I believe we can all learn from each other and there is enough opportunity for all of us to thrive.
